As a third-generation doctor, one might say that medicine is in Dr. Alana Jasper-Trotter's "blood" but she found her own path to medicine. Born in Hawaii but raised in Wisconsin, she played Division I college basketball for her home state as a Wisconsin Badger and completed her collegiate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison graduating cum laude with a double major in Biology and African-American Studies. After hanging up her sneakers, she shifted her sights to medicine. Dr. Jasper-Trotter graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She then completed a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery in North Carolina.
Dr. Jasper-Trotter is a classically-trained ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic surgery. Her primary interests include ptosis, blepharoplasty, chalazions and other eyelid lesions, eyelid trauma, Mohs reconstruction, botulinum injections (e.g. Botox ®) and other eyelid procedures.
Dr. Jasper-Trotter enjoys working out, listening to music, and spending time with her family including her wife and sweet goldendoodle, "Mr. Kai" who is often sporting a fun bow tie. Motivated by her family and her physician roots, Dr. Jasper-Trotter takes pride in providing patient centered care and looks forward to meeting you!
"I love to find a better way. As my doctor-mom likes to say, 'It's time to pull a rabbit out of the hat. If you can't find a rabbit, then find a gerbil!'"
